‘It is not possible that the (Emil) Boc Cabinet’s ministers should be appointed as caretaker ministers twice, and the ministries will be managed by state secretaries,’ Romania’s President said. Basescu signed, in October, the decrees notifying the vacancies of some Government’s posts, and appointing several members of the Government as caretaker ministers.
Thus, Emil Boc holds the position of caretaker minister of education, research and innovation; Gheorghe Pogea – interim minister of labour, family and social security; Gabriela Sandu – caretaker minister of small- and medium-sized companies, trade and business environment; Radu Berceanu – interim minister of agriculture, forestry and rural development; Elena Udrea – interim minister of the environment, Catalin Predoiu – interim minister for foreign affairs; Adriean Videanu – caretaker minister of health, Sorina Placinta – interim minister for the relationship with Parliament.
According to the Constitution, Romania’s President, at the Prime Minister’s proposal designates the interim ministers for 45 days, at the longest.
