Public employees must take 8 days unpaid leave, at most

12 noiembrie 2009

Information in English

Interim Prime Minister Emil Boc specified on Tuesday that the public employees would be compelled to take unpaid leave over November December, for eight days at the most, with the heads of the institutions to decide concretely the way the salary costs would be curbed.

Asked how many unpaid days off the state sector workers would have to take, the Government’s head stressed that according to the legal provisions this will be dealt with by the employers, in order they should discuss the matter with the employees. Boc stressed that the law produces effects only in the future, and therefore it cannot be enacted in Oct.

‘The law will be enacted as it reads. The law is enacted, not argued (….). It can be enacted only after it takes force and only in November and December, proportionally with its provisions (…). It cannot be enacted from October,’ caretaker Premier explained.
