‘For Romania also energy security means security at the Black Sea. European energy policy can be affected by frozen conflicts of this area (Abkhazia, Nagorno Karabah, South Ossetia, Transdniestr), said Elena Basescu in a debate referring to the summit EU-Russia that will take place on November 18 in Stockholm.
She stressed the need for the European Union to pay special attention to energy security, by ensuring the constant delivery from Russia and the development of alternatives such as Nabucco and the pan-European pipeline Constanta-Trieste.
‘We need to change the mentality of areas of influence with areas of confidence. Russia has to cooperate with the European Union in this area of utmost interest. On the security at the Black Sea depends the evolution of energy projects which are essential for the development of the European Union,’ said Elena Basescu.
