Romania seems like a country that lost its orientation, with the citizens’ impression being that the economic crisis overlaps with the lack of solutions, the leader of the Social Democratic Party and candidate for president M ircea Geoana on Friday stated in Brasov (central Romania), at a meeting with the representatives of the industrial environment from the entire country.

‘The first thing I can guarantee you, as a President, will be political stability during my entire term in office. Immediately after December 6, we will have a government to install after Christmas and we will resume efforts to rebuild our country’s credibility, both at home and abroad. The Romanian citizens lost their orientation, with Romania looking now like a perplexed country, a country where the economic crisis overlaps the lack of solutions’, Geoana said.

The candidate for president of the PSD+PC (Conservative Party) political alliance invited the Romanian businessmen to produce in Romania, so that the country be able to compete with the Western world. ‘We will have high production rate in the next years again, only the question is on what grounds? Based on which economic model?’ the PSD leader asked.

He also hailed the fact that the law, adopted ‘very quickly by the new parliamentary majority’ allowing the Boc Government to present the draft budget it is now on the President’s table, waiting for promulgation.
‘We want to have something stable, including in the dialogue with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Commission and the World Bank’, Geoana said.

The PSD leader also announced that, in January, he was going to ask the Parliament to call for an extraordinary session to give the Government the budget it wants.
Geoana said he wanted the immediate adopting of an anti-crisis programme, for the next 6-12 months, a law on fiscal responsibility and he also said he was against raising the taxes, which was one of the proposals for the crisis recently mentioned by the BNR (Romanian National Bank) governor.
