“We decided during our talks to re-launch activity at the level of experts in charge with this extremely important legal instrument which, truly, we should conclude and sign as soon as possible”, said Catalin Predoiu in a joint press conference with this Moldova counterpart.
He underlined the importance of the content of this document, that it must start from the new realities in the Republic of Moldova, “from the clear intention of this country to engage on the road toward the European Union”. At the same time, Predoiu noted the “absolutely special character of the relation with the Republic of Moldova, starting from the historical past, cultural affinity and language”.
“I view this track with optimism”, added the Chief of Bucharest diplomacy. In his turn, Moldovan Minister Iurie Leanca said that the new leadership in Chisinau want to promote a relation of European strategic partnership with Romania. “As for the drawing up and finalization of the legal framework of our bilateral relations I agree with Minister Predoiu that, first of all, the substance and elements to be contained by the new document count.
The new power in Chisinau proposed in its ruling programme to build a relation of European strategic partnership with Romania and we consider that these elements must be laid at the basis of the document to govern relations between Chisinau and Bucharest”, Leanca said. In his opinion, this approach will be finalized in a short time, given the constructive and open manner in which the dialogue between the two sides is carried out.
