Loading ...Voinescu said the President has taken note of ‘the repeated and pestering statements’ of late of his challenger Mircea Goana, running on the line of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), that Geoana is inviting Basescu to a direct and public debate on important issues facing Romania. Baseescu is said to have accepted the invitation, despite a tight schedule, and suggested the debate to be held in Cluj- Napoca in the afternoon.
‘From the themes enumerated by Mr. Geona as topics for the debate, Mr. Traian Basescu suggests economy and education, but he is ready to debate Mr. Geoana on any topics he wishes,’ said Voinescu. He added that as far as Basescu is concerned, Geoana may bring along the other presidential candidates as well. Voinescu also said that the electioneering schedule will be adjusted, if possible, if Geoana accepts Basescu’s proposal.
