‘What concerns me most is the fact that the President and the incumbent government abandoned the fight against crisis. This is in fact a way of abandonment which jeopardizes the jobs in Romania,’ said Geoana in an electoral meeting held on Saturday at Macin, Tulcea county.
The PSD president also said that if the projects of investment in small towns is part of the Project for Romania, the most important aspect of the programme is the capacity to set up stable jobs nationwide.
There’s no higher danger at present than the galloping rate of unemployment. Things got out of control and are lingering. The president does not allow PM Emil Boc to submit to Parliament the 2010 budget so that we might be able to give the IMF officials a signal that the country regains a minimum of stability and credibility. Therefore, I believe the only solution to fight against the crisis is to preserve jobs, to avoid the rise in VAT to 22% as Traian Basescu plans, is that within three weeks to end the presidential mandate which brought about only disagreements, chaos, scandal and fear in Romania,’ said Mircea Geoana.
According to Geoana, the economic crisis is equivalent at present to a form of the Third World War considering the effects are similar. The things that seemed put in order after the accession to the EU and NATO, are again under question mark. The Romanian president will have to become an important vector for ensuring national security, maintaining relations with European and American allies, but he will have not to allow this area of Romania to become a terminus point and a new Berlin wall at Romania’s eastern boarder,’ said the PSD president.
