Deputies, on unpaid leave this week

17 noiembrie 2009

Information in English

The leadership of the Chamber of Deputies on Monday decided that over Nov. 16-19 and on December 2,3, 7 and 8 deputies take the eight unpaid days off, secretary of the Chamber of Deputies, Dumitru Pardau announced.

Pardau explained that considering the lump sum for November has already been extended, the overall sum would be regulated when the due sum for December will be computed. ‘Practically, we don’t have work schedule in the Chamber of Deputies,’ said Pardau.

As regards the employees with the Chamber of Deputies, the Standing Office decided they should take only one unpaid day off on Nov. 30, whereas a solution is expected to be found in December, too. ‘This was a proposal, not a compromise. In this situation there are people with various wage levels. Precisely because of this reason the taken decision stipulates only one unpaid day off on November 30, whereas in December the Standing Office is to find another solution,’ said Pardau.

On the other hand, social-democrat Valeriu Zgonea, secretary of the Chamber of Deputies said that deputies might give up to receive in advance for January the indemnities and lump sums, for the compensation of expenditures for employees, so that they should no longer be forced to go on unpaid leave.

The PSD (Social Democratic Party) deputy said that a prospective reduction of expenditures would be obtained by the diminution of bonuses of employees with very high salaries. He stressed that these reductions should not affect employees with wages below 1,500 lei.
