Social Democratic Party (PSD) president Mircea Geoana, running for the top job in the state, told an election rally at Turceni, the southern Gorj County, on Monday, that nobody would be made redundant in the power plant there.

Geoana also stressed that in case he is elected Romania’s President he would create new jobs both in the energy field and in other ones and he would amend the law on pensions because ‘we must respect our elders and ensure them better living circumstances.’ It is the country’s future that is the elections’ real stake,’ said Geoana.

“Every member of the PSD branch in Gorj are reliable people and together we’ll help Turceni and the Romanian energy sector. Romania needs to be united. You need a president who knows your troubles, I used to work in the energy sector and I know what such a work means,’ said Geoana.
He was running an election campaign in Gorj County in towns like Motru and Turceni. Also accompanying him were Victor Ponta, Mugurel Surupaceanu, Marian Sarbu and the Gorj County Council’s president Ion Calinoiu and the mayor of Targu Jiu Municipality Sorin Carciumaru.
