They could express their electoral option at the polling stations organized abroad by Romania’s diplomatic missions or consular offices. The list of polling stations can be found on MAE web site, at the section dedicated to the presidential elections and the referendum.
According to the law, Romanian citizens can vote abroad based on the following documents: identity card, temporary identity card, official identity form or diplomatic passport, electronic diplomatic passport, service passport, electronic service passport, tourist passport, electronic tourist passport, temporary tourist passport, travel document, valid on the voting day.
In order to exercise their right, the Romanian citizens must hold the respective valid identity document. MAE recommends to the Romanian citizens temporarily abroad on Nov. 22 to seek in time the address of the closest polling station, to exercise this right.
MAE will organize 294 polling stations all over the world. In the countries where a high number of polling stations will be opened space outside the missions and consulates will be used, as well.
As such, 55 polling stations will be opened in Italy; 38 in Spain; 13 in the Republic of Moldova; 9 in France; 5 in Germany; 4 in Hungary; 3 in Russia; 8 in Great Britain; 4 in Belgium; 6 in Greece; 4 in Canada; 28 in the U.S.A.
Based on the missions’ estimations and of the presence to the polls on the occasion of previous elections a number of 600,000 ballots were sent to the polling stations abroad for the presidential elections and 600,000 ballots for each of the two questions posed in the national referendum – a ballot for each question.
