“At present PD-L thinks that its main rival is PSD and cooperation with PSD is out of the question,” Adriean Videanu told a news conference given after the meeting of the PD-L central leadership.
When asked if cooperation with PSD is still possible after the presidential elections and under what terms, Adriean Videanu said that, from his point of view, Romania needed a right-wing government as both PD-L and the National Liberal Party (PNL) had common values, which do no longer need to be negotiated for politically.
“It would be a more than natural relationship … The governing act must not have very much in common with the final result of the presidential election,” said Videanu.
The PD-L official said that he had previously taken part in the negotiation for the governing programme with PNL and knew what the set of values and the principles governing the Liberals’ political behaviour were.
“There is not much difference between what PD-L and what PNL want. They are close to a natural alliance,” said Videanu.
The PD-L first vice-chairman said that he would always be the supporter of creating a right- wing coalition and a right-wing government which, on the basis of the common values, should solve the political, economic and moral crisis in Romania.
When asked if a right-wing government implies the cooperation with PNL, the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania or with both groups, Videanu said that, from his point of view, any right-wing political force was welcome to building a new government.
