‘I must think, I must see. I haven’t yet received the report from my specialised department. I think that one of the great dangers would be to topple governments, on the one hand, and afterwards to realize what a foolish thing we did and to re-invest them, by giving them powers of functioning governments. This cannot happen. We are a democratic state’, Basescu argued at a meeting with reporters at his presidential campaign headquarters.
When asked whether it is possible that he does not sign the act into law, he answered: ‘I’ll not say anything until I see the law’. The president underscored, however, that the problems of governance cannot be solved by re-investing a government that had got Parliament’s no-confidence vote.
