The best three ranked presidential candidates according to the polls will face off in an election debate on Wednesday evening at the Bucharest School of Economics (ASE) organised by the candidate of the Social Democratic Party + Conservative Party (PSD+PC) Alliance Mircea Geoana.

President Traian Basescu made a last-moment change to accept on Tuesday to participate in the debate, ASE Bucharest Rector Ioan Gheorghe Rosca told.
‘I am not a PSD member or the head of some political department in any party,’ said Rosca.

That is why, he said, he sent official invitations to the presidential candidates to attend the debate at the ASE, mentioning that he was convinced the best seven ranked candidates according to the polls will attend the Wednesday debate, that is Traian Basescu, Mircea Geoana, Crin Antonescu, Sorin Oprescu, Corneliu Vadim Tudor, Kelemen Hunor and George ‘Gigi’ Becali.

‘We assure you of the political neutrality of our institution and we would be pleased as moderators to provide equal opportunities for academic expression to all the participants in the debate,’ reads the letter sent to the candidates.
