Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu would get 8 percent of the votes of 54 percent of the respondents who said they will cast a ballot, Greater Romania Party (PRM) leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor would get 5 percent, Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania’s (UDMR) candidate Kelemen Hunor 2 percent and Steaua soccer club owner Gigi Becali 2 percent, the survey shows.
In the runoff due on Dec. 6, Basescu would lose by 47 percent to Geoana (53 percent) or by 48 percent to Antonescu (52 percent); he would get 50 percent of the votes if running against Oprescu, who would get also 50 percent.
According to the survey, 54 percent of the respondents said they will go to the ballot box, 33 percent said they will not vote and 13 percent said they will not be in their town of residence.
Should parliamentary elections be held next Sunday, 34 percent of the polled say they would vote for the Alliance of Social Democrats and Conservatives, 32 percent with the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L), 20 percent with the National Liberal Party (PNL), 5 percent with the Greater Romania Party and UDMR and 2 percent with Becali’s New Generation Party.
Furthermore, the survey shows that 66 percent of the respondents believe Romania is going to the wrong direction, 19 percent say it is going to the right direction, while 15 percent of the polled could not answer the question. The CCSB survey was conducted on Nov. 13 and 14 on 1,195 persons; its tolerated error is 2.9 percent and probability of 95 percent.
