The project’s general objective is the protection of Romania’s mobile cultural heritage through curbing the illegal export and commerce, and dwindling the number of thefts, damage and bogus cultural assets as well as increasing the inter-organizational and the inter-operational capability of the relevant ministries and the bodies subordinated to them.
Within the programme there have been conducted workshops and seminars on the protection of the cultural patrimony, and it was drawn up an inter-ministerial cooperation protocol between the Austrian Agency for European Integration and Economic Development (AEI), CCPN and the decentralized services (county cultural directorate and museums), the Ministry of Administration and Interior (Romanian Police‘s General Inspectorate), Border Police’s General Inspectorate), and the Finance Ministry (National Customs Authority).
Likewise, it was developed an information management system (Information Management System – Cultural Assets -SIM-BC), aimed at the rapid storage and accession of data on cultural assets. The four partners can access the system both by private networks and Internet. As a matter of fact, those who achieved the mobile cultural heritage protection system see it also as the first step to develop the cultural tourism.
