The Prosecutor General on Tuesday announced in a press release that the institution was also preparing the necessary documentation to launch the criminal investigation into the behavior of such persons who were involved in the rescue operation back in 2007 and who knew about the misappropriations and didn’t notify the relevant authorities, as well as an investigation into the letting out of such secret information by persons who were in the position to have access to it.
The former prosecutor with the DIICOT (General Department for Organized Crime and Terrorism) Ciprian Nastastiu on Monday launched a book in which he shows that the Romanian authorities have paid 12-13 million dollars for the release of the three Romanian journalists kidnapped in Iraq, in 2007, with only 9 million having actually reached the kidnappers.
