“The measure plan was drawn up, signed and assumed by all the managers of the public order institutions involved in this process, every structure having clear and well defined tasks and responsibilities in keeping with the legal provisions in force.
Today [Wednesday] I have sent a circular to all the sector mayors for them, in their capacity as heads of the community police stations, not to order or allow them to take measures that are beyond their competence and cooperate with the police and gendarmerie.
Any deviation form these rules, any abuse or exceeding one’s tasks will immediately be punished as people enforcing the law must be the first to obey it,” said the Bucharest Prefect in a press release.
Thus, almost 4,000 policemen, gendarmes and community policemen in Bucharest are involved in keeping and ensuring public order, guarding the polling stations and the places where they are organized as well as the sector electoral bureaus, the spaces where materials meant for voting are stored.
Five hundred and eleven policemen, 500 gendarmes, 145 students of the Police Academy and 45 staff members of the Romanian Office for Immigration, the Community Public Service for Driving Licences and Car Registrations in Bucharest, the Community Public Service for Passports in Bucharest.
The public order and security during the elections will be ensured by mobilizing 1,160 policemen, 1,250 gendarmes, 151 members of the community police stations and 618 students and pupils of the Police Academy. Four hundred and seventy-four staff members are the personnel reserve.
