From the viewpoint of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and of his supporters, a relation with the National Liberal Party (PNL) is a more natural relation, said on Tuesday evening at Realitatea TV, president PSD Mircea Geoana.

‘We’ve made a range of sociological surveys according to which 60 percent of the PSD supporters said it is better with the National Liberal Party and only 6 percent said it is better for the Democrat-Liberal Party (PD-L). I am confident I would win the second round of the presidential elections,’ said the PSD leader. He said that Romanians should have a Government until Christmas; therefore negotiations in this regard have to start immediately.

The PSD president said that he would not take the PD-L into account for making up a future majority as long as the party is taken captive by Traian Basescu. Regarding the comments made by the leader of the National Liberal Party, Crin Antonescu, Mircea Geoana said he could understand a certain campaign strategy. Geoana said that both Traian Basescu and Crin Antonescu are on the wrong path, given than people are interested in solutions and not in insults.
