Sebastian Lazaroiu, a member on the campaign staff of Traian Basescu told that the campaigns of President Basescu and chief of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu have agreed to attend two three-candidate debates.
He mentioned that although they agreed on a three-candidate format, the campaign of Social Democratic Party (PSD) candidate Mircea Geoana was not involved in the agreement. Lazaroiu added that the PSD election campaign would like to see as many candidates as possible attending the debates, but in such case the debate would be too much diluted.
Lazaroiu also said that expected to attend today’s debate is also Mircea Geoana, and in case he does not show up, he is invited to attend another debate on Friday.
He mentioned that details of the debate, such as the themes of the debate, have not been agreed upon.
