According to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two officials approached institutional aspects connected to the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty, the economic and financial situation and questions concerning the energy policy and combating climate changes.
Mazuru and Kostov also exchanged opinions of such subjects as the EU enlargement policy and the European prospects of the countries in the Western Balkans, the EU initiatives as part of the European Neighbourhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership and the Black Sea Synergy, the project of the EU strategy on the Danube region, the relations between the EU and Russia and the EU and the Republic of Moldova.
The two politicians voiced wish to intensify the political dialogue at all levels with a view to harmonizing the positions within the EU institutions and the regional cooperation formats as well as for carrying out some common projects, especially in the Black Sea and the Danube regions. The talks were part of the constant dialogue in the field of European affairs between the two countries and a continuation of the round of bilateral consultations held in Bucharest this summer.
