Candidates’ debate will not take place on Wednesday evening, announced members of the campaign teams, when leaving the Palace of Parliament at the end of more than nine hours of negotiations.
According to the spokesman of Traian Basescu’s campaign, Sever Voinescu, the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) teams further wish a three candidates formula debate on Friday, with the participation of Traian Basescu, Crin Antonescu and Mircea Geoana.
Voinescu said that the campaign teams of Basescu and Antonescu will most likely meet on Thursday to pinpoint the latest details of this electoral confrontation. According to Voinescu, the two teams also expects the Social Democrat Party (PSD) staff to join in these discussions, and in case it will fail to do so the confrontation will be between Basescu and Antonescu.
