The documents acceptable as ID for the Romanian citizens voting abroad are: the identity card; the provisional identity card; the ID booklet; the diplomatic passport; the electronic diplomatic passport; the business passport; the electronic business passport; the simple passport; the electronic simple passport; the temporary simple passport; travel documents.
Voters reporting to the polling stations are registered in a roster along with all ID data they sign for. Subsequently, the members of the Electoral Bureau check on the person’s identity document if he/she has Romanian citizenship, if the document is valid and make sure that he/she is not a double voter.
MAE will organize 294 polling sections all over the world, by an additional 100+ than in the previous elections, when 190 sections were opened for the Romanians outside country boundaries. Given the additional number of such facilities, in the countries with many such stations, extra space will be assigned for voting purposes outside Romania’s diplomatic missions and consulates.
The numbers of polling stations abroad are as follows: Italy – 55; Spain – 38; the Republic of Moldova – 13; France – 9; Germany – 5; Hungary – 4; Russia – 3; the UK – 8; Belgium – 4; Greece – 6; Canada – 4; the US – 28.
The 55 stations in Italy will be opened in Rome (5 stations) and in the provinces of Latina, Viterbo, Marcelina, Ladispoli, Terni, Pescara, Regio Calabria, Cosenza, Olbia-Sardinia, Ancona, Napoli, Bari, Catania, Milan, Piacenza, Asti, Lodi, Novara, Rimini, Livorno, Grosetto, Fermo, Torino, Genova, Treviso, Padova, Trento, Trieste, Bologna, Florence, Brescia, Cuneo, Vicenza, Como, Bergamo, Varese, Sondrio, Lecco, Udine, Pordenone, Verona, Venice, Alessandria, Arezzo, Perugia, Acilia, Fontenova, Guidoni, Ivrea and Sezze.
The stations in Spain will be organized in Madrid and Castellon de la Plana respectively, and such a facility will be in each Bilbao, Ciudad Real, Roquetas de Mar, Almeria, Barcelona, Alcazar de San Juan, Santiago de Composte la, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Badajos, Girona, Cordoba, Granada, Huesca, Albacete, Zaragoza, Sevilla, Alcar de Henares, Coslada, Valencia, Torrejon De Ardoz, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Taragona, Gijon, Lerida, Lepe, Getafe, Murcia, Malaga, Logrono and Burgos.
Voting stations in the United States will be opened in Washington, Atlanta, Charlotte, Hollywood, Dallas, Houston, Norfolk, Niles, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Larose, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Bridgeport, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Sacramento, Orange County, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Chicago and Detroit.
Voting stations in the Republic of Moldova will be opened in Chisinau, Orhei, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Balti, Cahul, Giurgiulesti, Anenii Noi, Causeni and Soroca.
Two polling stations will be opened in each South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Chile, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Serbia, Syria, Sweden, Vietnam and Kosovo.
One voting station will be opened in each Albania, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Columbia, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Finland, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Morocco, Mexico, Montenegro, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, South Korea, North Korea, San Marino, Senegal, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Zimbabwe.
