Emil Constantinescu: People of conscience vote for a better future and for change

Information in English

Former Romania’s President Emil Constantinescu in the period 1996 through 2000 stated on Sunday, when exiting the polling station, that he expects a real change following the presidential elections.

“I expect a real change. After 13 years this is the first occasion when we cannot just choose the lesser of two evils, but we have the chance to choose the good. It is a moral and important option because the president is the one responsible for the moral crisis in society”, said Emil Constantinescu. He stressed he did not vote in the referendum because he sees it as lacking usefulness.

The former head of state had to wait a few minutes in order to exercise his constitutional rights because a queue was formed at the respective polling station. “It is a good sign and I hope that an increasing number of people will understand what a genuine change means. I urge the people to follow their conscience. People of conscience vote today for a better future and for change”, said Constantinescu.
