Candidate of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) to Presidency, Kelemen Hunor, voted on Sunday in his native commune, Carta, Harghita County (Romania’s center).
When exiting the polls he stated he voted for the country’s change for the better, for Romania’s future and for the reformation of a hyper-centralized state.
“I voted for a change for the better, for Romania’s future, for the reformation of a hyper- centralized state, for a reform placing the citizen on top of its priorities, the citizen who creates material and spiritual values.
We, politicians, must start each day with the citizen in mind and each decision should be taken depending on the citizen’s needs”, said UDMR candidate. As for the referendum, Kelemen Hunor said he voted both questions. The polling station in Carta commune is located in the Commune’s Hall in the locality where 42 years ago Kelemen Hunor was born, at the time the building serving as a maternity ward. Kelemen Hunor went from Carta to Targu Mures, where the UDMR headquarters is located.
