The two polling stations organized at Romania’s Embassy in Madrid have been opened on Sunday at 7.00 a.m., the local time, and the first elector came shortly after that, to the polling station number 229.
More than 155,000 electors are expected to the 38 polling stations in Spain, organized in 36 localities, according to the number of ballots sent by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Italy and Spain are the only countries where Romanians’ presence made the number of ballot papers exceed one hundred thousand, whereas in the remainder of the countries it does not go beyond a few dozens of thousands.
The Romanian authorities in Spain main objective is the fairness of the presidential elections in this country.
Romanian MAE organized two polling stations each in Madrid and Castellon de la Plana and one each in Bilbao, Ciudad Real, Roquetas De Mar, Almeria, Barcelona, Alcazar De San Juan, Santiago De Compostela, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Badajos, Girona, Cordoba, Granada, Huesca, Albacete, Zaragoza, Sevilla, Alcara De Henares, Coslada, Valencia, Torrejon De Ardoz, Las Palmas De Gran Canaria, Palma De Mallorca, Alicante, Taragona, Gijon, Lerida, Lepe, Huelva, Murcia, Malaga, Logrono and Burgos.
