BEC: Partial results: Basescu – 32.84 pct, Geoana – 29.17 pct

The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) announced on Monday morning the partial results for the presidential elections following the centralization of introduced and validated data from 10,509 polling stations of a total of 21,706, accounting for 48.41 percent of the total.

According to BEC, Traian Base scu has won 32.84 percent, Mircea Geoana – 29.17 percent and Crin Antonescu – 20.78 percent. As the result of ballots counting in almost half of the polling stations, Corneliu Vadim Tudor scored 5.39 percent, Kelemen Hunor – 4.57 percent, Sorin Oprescu – 3.48 percent, George Becali – 1.85 percent, Remus Cernea – 0.64 percent, Constantin Rotaru – 0.42 percent, Gheorghe Eduard Manole – 0.37 percent, Ovidiu Iane – 0.24 percent and Constantin Ninel Potarca – 0.20 percent.

The total number of electors in the permanent electoral lists is of 8,660,757 and the total number of those who went to the ballot boxes stood at 4,663,475, namely 53.84 percent. According to BEC, the number of validly expressed votes stood at 4,566,790, namely a percentage of 97.92 percent, and 96,450 were canceled, namely 2.06 percent. BEC will announce the following partial results at 11.00 a.m.
