Traian Basescu, endorsed by the Democratic-Liberal Party (PD-L), reaped 33.2 pct of the votes in the first tour of the Nov. 22 presidential elections, whereas Mircea Geoana, the candidate of the PSD+PC Alliance, garnered 30.3 pct of the votes.
Candidate of National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu came in third with 22 percent, according to the CSOP+IRES poll. Next in the poll came Kelemen Hunor with 4.9 percent; C. V. Tudor – 4 percent; Sorin Oprescu – 3.2 percent; George Becali – 1.5 percent; others – 0.9 percent.
