The highest number of Romanians voting on Nov. 22 was in Italy, with 25,000 (24,300 for the referendum) who cast their vote in the 55 polling stations organized in the Peninsula.
According to estimations, more than 20,000 Romanians voted on Sunday in all the 38 polling stations organized in 36 Spanish cities and towns. Some 8,700 electors came to the polling stations opened in the Republic of Moldova, this being the highest ever presence beyond Prut river for a Romanian poll.
In Belgium some 3,000 Romanians cast their vote, in Germany – 2,900, in Greece – 2,700. The voting in 294 polling stations set up for the Romanians all over the world was conducted over 35 hours, as it started in Auckland, Australia at 8 p.m. on Saturday and ended on the U.S. western coast on Monday.
More than 94,000 Romanian citizens outside the national borders expressed their electoral option on the occasion of the poll on Nov. 22, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimations, based on information received from the chairmen of the polling stations opened abroad.
