Loading ...Traian Basescu, running for the second term in office as president with endorsement of the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L), on Tuesday stated that here should take place at least three public debates between him and the other candidate for president Mircea Geoana (representing the Social Democratic Party – PSD), ahead of the 2nd round of the presidential elections.
‘I believe we should focus right now on such debates to insist on the attributes a President of Romania needs to have, according to the Constitution. I believe that we should organize a debate on foreign affairs and security, another one to focus the reform of the state, in which the President to get involved, and a third debate to focus on the candidates’ vision for Romania’, he explained to a press conference at his campaign office.
Basescu said there should be staged at least three such debates, if not on a daily basis. ‘This is what I believe, but I don’t know if we would be able to agree on this’, he added.
