Deadline for hearing Negoita Cabinet in Parliament runs out

The deadline till the Parliament leaders had both to schedule the hearings’ agenda and the date for the investiture vote for the Liviu Negoita Cabinet expired on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

According to the rules of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the officials of both chambers had to schedule the Parliament’s joint sitting, 15 days, at the longest, after they received the Government’s programme and list of ministers, and to take steps and convene the Deputies and the Senators.

President Traian Basescu designated mayor of Bucharest’s 3rd district Liviu Negoita to form a new government, the second after the Social Democrats stepped out of the ruling, given that the Lucian Croitoru Government failed receiving the Parliament’s investiture vote.

After 3 days of holding consultations with the political parliamentary formations, PM designate Liviu Negoita forwarded the Parliament the structure and the programme of his Cabinet, on Nov 9. The standing bureaus of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies had to meet and schedule the hearings’ agenda and the investiture sitting by Nov. 24, after 15 days at the longest (according to the Rule – editor’s note).
