‘Despite the fact that there is a special law on preventing and combating domestic violence, and the provisions of the Penal Code and the Code of penal procedures, the violence against the women remains a serious phenomenon, which affects over 10,000 women every year, over 100 of them being killed,’ Cliveti said. The U.N. General Assembly designated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to be marked on each Nov. 25, all over the world.
‘The Movement for Equality, Non-Discrimination and Social Opportunities warns against the alarmingly high rates of the scourge both in the countryside and in towns and cities, among all the social professional categories, and asks the authorities in charge with fighting against domestic violence to act efficiently for diminishing the violence against the women,’ the press release says.
