The volume published by Nemira publishing house proposes the readers a portrait of Geoana the man, not the politician, as it presents events of his life starting from his childhood.
‘This book is not about politics, it was published in record time and it is a book about more simple things, which we all have, in fact. It is an attempt to present what I am, what I believe in, beyond the passion and sometimes mud that the electoral campaigns bring to any democracy and maybe more here’, Geoana said.
He said the volume speaks of his childhood – spent between Bucharest and the southern region of Oltenia -, of his parents, who gave him a sound upbringing, his first experiences as a teenager and his experience as an engineer and later a diplomat. He speaks of how he met his wife Mihaela while he was a student, when he was ‘a slightly embarrassing beginner skier’ and he was sitting in the same cable car with her in the resort of Predeal.
The PSD leader invites, by his book, the Romanian elites to have the courage, 20 years since the December 1989 Revolution, to conceive the Romanians’ own project, and he argues that Romania has so far lost ‘that intellectual bet on conceiving by itself a model of society that would fit us and instead it imported bits of Western models’.
