Hidroelectrica will organise a tender in the spring of 2010 for the construction of a waterpower plant at Islaz, on the Olt River, Hidroelectrica Director General Mihai David said at the end of the 80th session of the Joint Romanian-Serb Commission for the Iron Gates.

He said the investment is estimated at 316 million euros, for a four-unit plant with an installed power of 28 MW. Works on the Islaz plant will last four years, said David, adding that the Serb party was informed about the projects Romania has in mind for the Danube River and its tributaries.

The 80th session of the Joint Romanian-Serb Commission for the Iron Gates was held on Thursday in Bucharest, with the participants discussing technical, operational, financial and development matters and Hidroelectrica asking the Serb party for an opinion on building a new waterpower plant on the Danube jointly with Bulgaria.
