According to the PD-L leader Emil Boc the National Executive Committee of the party has unanimously validated the decision to ask the Standing Bureaus of the two chambers set up the constitutional review committee, which is to apply the results of the referendum.
‘On Monday, the Standing Bureaus will have on their table the project on the setting up of the constitutional review committee, for Romanians need to be certain of their vote being followed by the necessary procedures to make it effective instead of being discussed one more time behind close doors, where politicians take care of their own interests.
It is for the first time when a referendum on another topic than the review of the constitution was validated in Romania. And this will of the Romanians cannot be ignored’, Emil Boc said on Thursday. The PD-L leader insisted the people’s will expressed at the referendum needs to be followed by the right decisions of the politicians.
Emil Boc criticized the PSD (Social Democratic Party) leader Mircea Geoana and the PNL (National Liberal Party) leader Crin Antonescu for ‘hiding behind their own campaign interests and forgetting about what almost 10 million Romanians expressed through vote. They don’t want to reduce the number of MPs or to switch to unicameral parliament, and they do not want to eliminate the privileges of the lawmakers, such as the pension’.
