‘The nomination of Dacian Ciolos represents a success of Romania and when I say Romania I refer first of all to the Presidency, the Government and the political parties. We proved once again that when we manage to speak in one voice, when we manage to jointly support the national interest, regardless of we belong to the left or to the right wing, Romania wins’, interim Premier said.
The Chairman of the European Commission (EC) Jose Manuel Durao Barroso on Friday nominated Dacian Ciolos for European Commissioner for agriculture and rural development. The head of the European Commission specified Ciolos was by far the most competent for this portfolio among the Commissioners appointed by the 27 member states.
Ciolos will manage one of the most important portfolios, with more than 50 billion funds allotted, almost a third of the EU budget.
