Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Geoana told an election rally on Friday in the western city of Oradea that Transylvania should be the driving engine that will take Romania out of the ongoing crisis.

‘The political Bucharest City has an obligation to Transylvania, which should be the driving engine that will take Romania out of the crisis,’ said Geoana, adding that as Romania’s President he will combine ’social justice with economic dynamism’ and that he will be alongside chief of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu and independent Klaus Johannis the guarantee that a nefarious chapter in the history of Romania will close.

The PSD presidential candidate was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of PNL Teodor Melescanu, who said he is witnessing a historic moment. ‘I have a clear feeling that I am witnessing a historic event: PNL and PSD are for the first time endorsing a sole candidate for President, Mircea Geoana,’ said Melescanu.
