Corina Cretu next week will attend the 67th meeting of the European Union-US parliamentary delegations. The representatives of the EU delegation on this occasion, besides the representatives of the US Congress, will meet American Vice-President Joe B iden, members of the US State Department, representatives of the US Chamber of Commerce and Industry, of the American businessmen, representatives of the Department of the Treasury. The EU delegation will also meet Susan Rice, US Ambassador to the UN.
“We shall have an extremely interesting dialogue between the EU parliamentarians and the ones of the United States about the new framework of trans-Atlantic relations, which, concurrently with President Obama’s victory, gets a more ample dimension. I shall ask on behalf of the European Union and of Romania for lifting the US visa requirements and an equal treatment for the citizens of the Union.
There are a few more countries in this situation and I hope that my colleagues in them should be equally vocal,” said the Social Democrat MEP. The bilateral parliamentary meetings will take place on December 2 and 3 in Washington and on December 4 and 5 in New York. This is why Corina Cretu will vote on December 6, in the runoff presidential election, at Romania’s UN mission in New York.
