Aurescu will present Romania’s stance on the topics of priority interest for the OSCE Ministerial Council. ‘Romania gives a particular importance to the topics regarding the European security architecture, namely resolving the frozen conflicts, combating terrorism, energy security within the OSCE, the problems of the climate changes, the prevention of the trafficking in human beings, the sustainable integration of the Roma,’ the ministry specifies.
The participants will be also submitted several important political documents and draft decisions for approval on topics such as the consolidation of the police activities, light weapons and small caliber arms, the energy security, the impact the climate changes have on the security, the promotion of the tolerance and fighting against discrimination in the OSCE space, the respect for the state of law, the promotion of the mass media liberties, combating terrorism, the trafficking in persons and the organized crime.
Attending the event are the foreign ministers and high officials of the 56 OSCE member states, representatives of 11 partner countries from Asia and the Mediterranean area. Also invited are several partner international organizations such as the European Union, NATO, the United Nations bodies, the Council of Europe, the Central European Initiative (CEI) and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).
The event marks the end of the Greek OSCE presidency-in-office, this year, and takes place in the context of the preoccupations with the adjustment of the Pan-European organization to the new security challenges in early 21st century (The Corfu Process) whose results have the potential to influence the OSCE activity, in the long run.
