5 decembrie 2009

Information in English

The Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L) issues an invitation to the Liberals to meet late on Sunday, after 9 p.m. at the PD-L headquarters in order to form a right- wing government, Democratic Liberal vice president Gheorghe Flutur announced in a news conference on Friday.

Thus, he was calling on the Liberals to meet after the announcement of the exit poll results in Sunday’s presidential runoff between incumbent President Traian Basescu, who is backed by the Democratic Liberals and Social Democratic chairman Mircea Geoana. Flutur said that the latest remarks made by PNL president Crin Antonescu seem to point to the fact that he ‘allegedly apologized for forcing the Liberal electorate to vote for Ion Iliescu’s party’.

‘I understand him, because after 20 years a Liberal party is forced to campaign for Ion Iliescu’s party’, he stressed. The PD-L leader added that after the first round of the presidential voting in which Basescu’s political project won by 88 percent of the vote of those who cast a ballot in the referendum on reforming Parliament, the PD-L is expecting the population to give Basescu a second term as president in the runoff.
