Ambassador Henri Paul: Romania admits mistakes to Jews

France’s Ambassador in Bucharest Henri Paul said on Thursday, that Romania admitted it made mistakes in the past, ‘big mistakes to the Jews,’ but, today, as a EU state, it admitted its mistakes and assumed the cultivation of the European values.

‘I am here to bear witness to this,’ said Henri Paul in the opening ceremony of he international colloquium on ‘France and Emancipation of Romanian Jews,’ organized by France’s Embassy to Romania, the French Institute in Bucharest, in cooperation with the Bucharest University and the Federation of the Jewish Communities in Romania, that took place at the Elvira Popescu Hall of the Bucharest-based French Institute.
The French dignitary also stressed that the Romanian Jewish community is ‘very active, although small.’
