Loading ...President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Geoana stated on Monday evening, after the validation of the presidential elections, that he accepts Romania’s Constitutional Court ruling and congratulates his counter-candidate Traian Basescu, who won a new mandate as head of state.
“Unfortunately, the evidence of massive frauds and investigation requests were not accepted. (…) Fraud suspicions connected to these elections will haunt Romania and our democracy in the years to come. I accept CCR’s ruling and wish Traian Basescu success”, said the social democrat leader, who noted that he conveyed his message to the incumbent president, with whom he talked by phone prior to his statement to the press.
