The Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) Patriarch Daniel is to consecrate the Big Chrism for the 21st time, in the Romanian Orthodox Church, on Maundy Thursday on April 1.
The decision to declare the year 2010, the Homage Year of the Orthodox Creed and the Romanian Autocephaly is Patriarch Daniel’s initiative, made during the meeting of the Holy Synod, on June 18-19, in the context of commemorating 1,685 years since the first Ecumenical Synod of N icaea (325) happened, and 125 years since the BOR’s Autocephaly was officially acknowledged, in 1885.
The Romanian Patriarchy will publish, on the occasion, works on the Orthodox Creed and a book showing frescoes of ecumenical synods and saints defending the right faith. The topic of the Romanian Autocephaly is due to be approached in the second half of 2010, and it will be devoted three books namely ‘Autocephaly – Liberty and Dignity,’ ‘Autocephaly and Responsibility,’ and the third ‘Autocephaly and Communion.’
