The draft of the 2010 budget does not meet the current priorities, said President of the Senate Mircea Geoana on Wednesday, who informed that the parliamentarians of the Social Democratic Party (P SD) prepared over 2,000 amendments that would be presented on Thursday to the budget-finance parliamentary commission.

According to Geoana, the Romanians’ main priorities are the struggle against the economic and financial crisis, the rescue of jobs and some of the vital sectors of economy are education and health. “Unfortunately, investments to be made in infrastructure and rural and local development are still extremely low,” he added. Geoana also said that the draft budget for this year did not meet any pledge that was taken publicly by Romania’s leaders, namely “the people who make up the current Government and the country’s leaders in general.”
