“If, during this legislative period, PSD does not manage to be in a nice opposition, to get clean, to become what it might become, then a new left-wing party will be born. Not because it is somebody’s will, but because it is a need of people, especially of those in Transylvania, of the intellectuals, who do not feel they are represented by a certain low intellectual standard of the left wing at this time,” Vasile Dancu told.
He says that Transylvania has no appetite for this kind of social democracy, “which is promoted under the centralist art.” The Social Democrat living in Cluj (central Romania) also referred to the fact that a number of PSD members, who “could think and write” and with whom he worked on changing the shape of the left wing, were marginalized.
“In PSD some people, who could not only collect votes but also think and write, were pushed out, others are still there. There are a lot of people who can think. I am referring to Adrian Nastase, he is a very good ideologist, a dialogue partner with the others, to Adrian Severin, Cristian Diaconescu. Unfortunately, Dan Mihalache was pushed out of the party.
Radu Podgoreanu, a very good ideologist, I do not know what has become of him. Therefore, there are very many people in PSD who can think. Of course I have not mentioned all of them, I have only given you a few examples,” said Vasile Dancu, who added that Mircea Geoana too was one of the people who can have a say and with whom he dreamt of changing the shape of the left wing.
“Mircea Geoana is a man who understands these things, I have talked with him several times, we have dreamt together, I can say I have dreamt together with him, he has an appetite for ideas and ideologies, he could participate in such an effort too.
Unfortunately, he has not put them into practice and it seemed to me he let himself be defeated by the pragmatic people who say that ideologies are not important, that the money is what counts,” also said Vasile Dancu, who added that Geoana is “an open-minded democratic man, who created an atmosphere of debate in the party, which others before him did not create. It is something I am respecting and will always respect.”
