Rudel Obreja, the Chairman of the Romanian Boxing Federation said Romania is indeed considering the possibility of hosting a boxing match starring world champion Lucian Bute, in the not too distant future, especially with President Traian Basescu and Premier Emil Boc supporting the project, following only the Federation to come to an understanding with InterBox, the promoter of the Romanian boxer.
‘There is a big chance this project to materialize, since both Premier Emil Boc and President Traian Basescu are supporters of it. We only have to come to an understanding with InterBox, for we do not want to disturb the exceptional career of the Romanian athlete, in any way.
I do believe we could easily stage a boxing event starring Lucian Bute in Romania, since we have the support of the authorities, but things should be done properly. We have no reason to ask them (i.e. InterBox) to fight with us yeť, Rudel Obreja said on the occasion of the latest press conference in Romania of Lucian Bute.
The IBF world champion reiterated his wish to box in his native country, even on a stadium, in the absence of a hall to be large enough. ‘It doesn’t matter the name, I am ready to fight any boxer.
I am ready to box anywhere, if it is for an unification match. I want to box in Romania, and I hope this wish of mine to realize very soon. Why not, I would enjoy boxing in open air, maybe this summer. There would probably come to the match some 25,000 people’, Bute said.
