Corneliu Porumboiu’s film represents Romania’s proposal in the competition for The best foreign language film section of the Oscar Awards to come, whose nominations will be announced on February 2 and, at the same time, benefits from a special projection within the Palm Springs International Film Festival, which started on January 5.
Recently, ‘Policeman, Adjective’ was launched in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, and it grossed over 50,000 dollars. For the first time in the United States, at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the ‘Medal of Honor’, Calin Netzer’s second film, can be also watched, it was already ‘honored’ at the Thessaloniki Festival in November 2009 with a record number of four distinctions: the jury award, the best script award (which Netzer jointly signed with Tudor Voican), the best actor award (Victor Rebengiuc) and the FIPRESCI Award.
The American career of ‘Gruber’s Journey,’ which started at the 2008 edition of the Romanian Film Festival in New York, also continues in 2010. The film directed by Radu Gabrea is to be shown within the New York Jewish Film Festival, on January 12 and 13, in the presence of the director.
