The average annual increase in consumer prices by 5.6 percent in 2009 was calculated based on the consumer price index and also on the harmonised index of consumer prices (IAPCR), informs the INS. The average growth in the consumer prices index stood at 0.32 percent In December 2009, compared with November 2009. The largest growth in the consumer prices index was recorded in the services field (8.97 percent), in 2009 against 2008, followed by the non-food stuffs (6.22 percent).
The smallest growth was recorded in the food stuffs sector (3.25 percent). The consumer prices index climbed 0.82 percent in December 2009 against December 2008 in the milling and bakery industry, dropped 0.68 percent in the vegetables and canned vegetables industry and also dropped – 5.51 percent – in the fruits and canned fruits sector.
A 2.84 percent growth was recorded in the meat, meat-based products and canned meat industry, 1.1 percent growth was recorded in the milk and dairy products sector, 3.45 growth was seen in the eggs sector and 4.41 percent growth in the confectionery sector. The price index of alcoholic beverages climbed 2.28 percent in December 2009 on December 2008.
The index price for clothing and footwear also went up, by 1.66 percent and 2.12 percent, respectively. The largest growths were recorded in the tobacco and cigarettes industry, 38.61 percent, and in the fuels industry, 13.17 percent.
