“While the allocated budget for ‘Personnel salaries’ in 2010 is by 11 percent smaller than in 2008, we notice a steep drop of the budget financing for ‘goods and services’, i.e. by 72 percent compared to the same reference year, but the drama is represented by ‘Investments and capital repairs’, where sub-financing is obvious, i.e. by 82 percent less money allocated in 2010 compared to 2008. Given such conditions, the system will crack”, Robu said.
The Liberal senator, dissatisfied with the allocations, filed over 80 amendments to the 2010 budget plan; the list of the investments that will be blocked this year also includes the construction of the future library of Timisoara-based Traian Vuia Polytechnic University, the rector of which he is. Robu added that he succeeded in obtaining only five million lei for this objective, nevertheless, an additional amount of 15 million lei is needed for the library to be completed. In case the works are not concluded on time, the rain will also compromise what has been built so far, he insisted.
“We hope that this year we shall at least be able to finish this construction on all its sides, and to continue the interior arrangements in the next years. Under no circumstance will the construction of the library be finalized this year”, Robu stressed. The parliamentarian concluded by saying that, similar to all of his Liberal colleagues, he will not vote for the 2010 draft budget law, in its present form.
