Among the issues of a present interest on the agenda, there were included the main challenges in terms of Euro-Atlantic security in 2010, the NATO and the EU policies towards the Russian Federation, the NATO and the EU enlargement, the Western Balkans, the evolution of the situation in the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Belarus.
Foreign ministers from the Nordic countries, from Central and Western Europe, as well as representatives of the think tanks and opinion formers in Europe and U.S will attend the event. There have already confirmed their participation foreign ministers of Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Ireland and the Republic of Moldova.
In the sidelines of this event, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs will also have a bilateral meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart.
The two ministers will address issues of common interest in bilateral relations, with emphasis on economic cooperation, Lithuania currently holding the presidency of the Community of Democrats, the Lisbon Treaty, the EU enlargement, the European Neighbourhood Policy, the EU energy security and the NATO enlargement policy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania organised the ‘Snow Meeting’. Similar events were staged in Lithuania in 2008 and 2009.
