Thus, 33.28 percent of Romanians expect to be affected in 2010 by the personnel cutbacks, another 12.03 percent of the respondents declared they would most probably have a reduced salary this year, while 11.19 percent of the employees taking part in the survey said that their company would certainly not recruit any new staff.
Slightly more optimistic are the people who consider that in 2010 the only ones benefiting from salary increases are those who have good performances within the company (17.48 percent), while a quarter of the survey respondents (26.02 percent) believe the tendency to recruit new staff will be kept on the labour market, but with much lower salaries.
The survey was performed online nationwide, between January 5 and 18, 2010 on a representative sample of 3,708 respondents. Among these, most are men (62 percent) and the 21-30 age bracket represents the majority (47 percent). 43 percent of the poll respondents have a higher-education diploma and 9 percent have also a Master’s programme diploma. More than a quarter of the respondents, 28 percent respectively, are from Bucharest.
